In a major development towards the concerns affecting of students’ well-being, UWill has purchased the Virtual Care Group of Los Angeles-based student telehealth company. Proposed for the July 11, 2024, this acquisition would help expansion of UWill’s digital mental health services and reach more institution.
UWill another platform that provides online counseling services to the university students where the students are matched with a licensed counselor to address their issues uniquely. It is currently connected to more than 300 institutions, mainly in the United States the major one is Babson College, the University of Michigan and Columbus State Community College. The acquisition will strengthen UWill’s delivery of mental services more effectively to its exponentially increasing student clients over 2 million.
Michael London, the founder and CEO of UWill said that Virtual Care Group has established a trusted service provision noting that “With the merge, our reach, popularity, and digital solutions satisfy the needs of any college in the world. ” Danny Zusman, the founder and the CEO of Virtual Care Group also noted that the acquisition has propelled the digital mental health in the higher learning institutions.
Together, these provide for a significant need among students, which includes crisis support and psychiatric services, wellness such as yoga and mindfulness, and reporting on the students’ mental health. Flexible, online tools need to be accessible with quick solutions that can be used frequently due to ACHA’s study that showed that while 77% of college students experience mental health problems, fewer get help.
It’s a significant move towards bettering the approaches to student mental health and use of technology to deliver vital services.
